It was a Super Sunday on Super Bowl Sunday for the Northeast BASS Nation on Brandy Branch. Tournament stop # 2 provided three consistent themes; terrible weather, a non-boater taking 1st place, and Century Bass Club dominating the region. Nonetheless, the fishing was outstanding as 32 anglers pumped out 456.91 lbs. of bass at an average of 14.28 lbs. per angler. Brandy Branch lived up to its hype as Mike Cassanova blasted the field draggin’ a Carolina rig for 27.67 lbs. His boater, 2nd overall in points, Paul Pierce Carolina rigged his way to 2nd place with 24.48 lbs. While new comer and college angler Tyler Woods dragged his way in third with an official weight 23.50 lbs. (after losing a 1.0 penalty for having 2 dead bass). The top three anglers shared a location known as Brewer’s hump as the rest of the field was a good 6.0 lbs. behind third place. The next seven anglers jockeyed for position points as they all came in with 17 + lbs. It took 10 lbs. to place 25th in this event. Moreover, there were 19 five fish limits brought to the scales. Big Fish went to Paul Pierce with an 8.12 lb. bucket mouth as many anglers brought in fish over 5 lbs.
The Angler of the Year race has Dan Phifer (Century Bass Club) at the top, with Paul Pierce (Century Bass Club) in second, and David Rush (Denton County Bass Club) in third.
The Club of the Year race is currently in the hands Century Bass Club taking the first two events of the year. Things are tightening up between Red Oak Bass Club (2nd) and Denton County Bass Club (3rd).
