The Forth stop on the 2013 Northeast Regional trail was Lake Cedar Creek. The Crazy Texas weather patterns continued to shake things up when it produced a cold front just days before the tournament and followed up with a cloudy and windy day for fishing. With tempetures starting in the 40′s and only rising to the low 60′s the fishing was a little slow for most. Kevin Turman went to work to produce his back to back first place finish. Kevin’s limit of 13.33 lbs was anchored by the tournament big bass of 6.01 lbs. J.P. Duran, starting the back to back trend, finished in second place in back to back to back tournaments with his limit of 11.10 lbs and the second place big bass of 3.84 lbs. Carl Barrett gets back in the top with a third place finish weighing 10.63 lbs. J.D. Green also found a limit of fish for 10.45 lbs. Chad Hensley rounds out the top 5 with 9.68 lbs. The next stop on the trail is Lake Tawakoni in June. As the angler of the year standings changed again this will be a very important tournament for sure.
Not Chilly for Long, Brannon that is.
The Northeast Regions second stop for the 2013 season was Lake Cypress Springs. Cold clear nights have kept the water temperature in the low 50′s. On Sunday March 3rd take off was chilly starting the day at 27 degrees. While the weather has slowed the start of the spawn Cypress still produced 11 limits with 105 fish for 262.77lbs for the 33 anglers. Brannon Long’s 5 fish limit took top honors at just shy of 17 lbs. Brannon relied on his Lake Fork Hyper worm fished in various styles for his winning sack. J.P Duran also found a limit of fish for his second place finish with 16.18 lbs.
