North Central Region: Peck and Fudge Take Top Honors In A Grinder On Lake Belton

Posted on May 19, 2025 Written by DaShon Peck

The North Central Region, Club Division’s, fourth qualifier of the year took place on Sunday, May 18th on Lake Belton.  The tournament was quite challenging, and the anglers would face numerous obstacles on the road to victory.  Everyone knows that the first hurdle to clear on Lake Belton is grinding through the plethora of dinks and swimmers to bring their total weights up, and in that regard, Belton was true to form.  However, Belton had other tricks up her sleeve on this day.

The deceptively calm and pleasant conditions experienced by the field at take off quickly deteriorated into chaos as the wind picked up and grew stronger as the day progressed, ultimately gusting over 35 mph.  The wind did not stop it from being very humid and sticky all day, and the fact that there was no shortage of wake boaters only served to enhance the “fun”.  As if that was not enough adversity, about an hour or so before weigh in, a most impressive thunderstorm rolled across the lake bringing with it some serious lightning and ensuring that the boat ramp would be a zoo.  Despite all that, the anglers preserved and at the end of the day, it was boater DaShon Peck and non-boater Jordan Fudge, both with The Colony Bass Club,  who dodged, ducked, dipped, dived, and dodged their way to the top of the leaderboard.

DaShon Peck would bring in the only limit on the boater side, weighing 8.51 pounds and anchored by the big bass of the tournament, a 2.27 pound small mouth. DaShon pocketed a total of  $696 for his efforts.  Second place on the boater side with 4 fish weighing 7.10 pounds was Andrew Wren, Tarrant Christian Bass Club, and his big fish weighed 2.20 pounds…oh so close Andrew!

Jordan Fudge’s three fish limit, the only limit on the non-boater side, weighed 5.28 pounds, and gave Jordan his second win in a row along with a $288 payday. Well done Jordan!  Second place non-boater with 2.96 pounds was The Colony Bass Club angler, Chris Demiglio,  again making up some ground on the current non-boater leader, Alonza Brown, tightening the race for non-boater angler of the year.
The last two qualifying events of this year will be June 21st at Ray Roberts and June 22nd at Texoma.  Ray Roberts has been showing out all year and Texoma will be interesting to say the least!  Be sure to register for these tournaments so that you don’t miss out on the action and your chance to show off your bass fishing prowess!  See you in June!

DaShon Peck 1st Place – Boater
Jordan Fudge 1st Place – Co-Angler

2025 Southeast Region Team Standings

5/17/25: An overcast 76 degree calm Saturdady morning at Scott’s Ridge on Lake Conroe presented perfect fishing conditions. Except that it was hot with no wind. Of course that changed over the course of the day since we are in Texas. A light breeze kicked in around noon and was consistent through weigh-in at 2 pm.

The first team to weigh-in was Pat Fairchild and Wyatt Wimberly of Midlake Money Pit BBQ in Broaddus, TX…and their sack held up. The first time on the lake in 20 years, Pat & Wyatt brought five fish to the scales that weighed 19.37 lbs with a 7.19 lb kicker and big bass of the event. That combination earned them $1052.

Second place went to the Team of Tye Grissom & Mark Grissom with a solid five fish limit that weighed 18.72 lbs and icluded a 6.78 lb kicker fish. This team is the current leader in Team of The Year standings with one event left. They think they have it wrapped up but Brian Jones thinks otherwise. Toledo Bend will be the deciding event and Brian feels good about his chances on that pond.

Third place goes to the team of Terry Service and Erik Green also with a five fish limit. Their sack weighed 16.02 lbs. Terry injured his knee Friday and came off the IR list to compete. Looks like he held up all day with the help of a butt seat. Terry & Erik will have a say in what happens on Toledo Bend also. Second place in the TOY standings is not a bad place to be.

The final qualifying tournament in the SE Region will be June 8, 2025 on Toledo Bend at the Hwy 255 Ramp Sam Force Collins Park. Its not too late to register!! Get your third tournament in and qualify to fish the Team State Championship. You could be the next Classic contender.

Team NC Region: DANIELS AND ANDERSON BEST ON BELTON

Posted on May 18, 2025 Written by Brent Stafford

5/17/25: If you want to bring a winning sack to the scales on Lake Belton the local regulars will tell you need to upgrade your limit beyond the “Belton Bullets”   Those numerous 14 inchers that are plentiful where the Leon River in the Brazos River Basin sprawls through Bell and Coryell counties.  Storms with lighting and thunder changed the bite and behavior overnight from practice days to tourney day for most of the field.

Doug Cole and Joe Sciuto brought in the biggest bass at 4.10 pounds and took home $190.  The biggest bass above a “Belton Bullet”

Will Curlee and Nathan Ahle pitched jigs on bluff walls that secured a 3rd place limit with some beautiful Belton smallies that totaled 12.72 pounds and a $430 payday.

James Seymour and Casey Garica spent their day in 15-20 feet of water off ledges throwing jigs to earn $ 860 bucks with a solid second place bag at weigh- in.

Curtis Daniels and Terry Anderson asked when the next derby is going to be at Lake Belton.  This was there first time to fish for ” Belton Bullets”   Their 14.54 pounds bested the field as they focused on wind- blown points with a combination of swimbaits, drop- shots and crankbaits for $1,590

The North Central Region Texas Bassmaster Open Team Trail’s last event with be at Lake LBJ  June 14th @ the LBJ Yacht Club and Marina.   Those teams that fish 3 events qualify for the TBOTT State Championship @ Cedar Creek  Sept. 10th -13th.
