Northwest Region Championship held on Lake Stamford

Posted on June 24, 2024 Written by Brent Stafford

Championship Results

The Northwest Region of the Texas BASS Nation held its regional championship on Lake Stamford, June 8th & 9th. The top twenty anglers faced some very tough fishing conditions during the tournament. The lake level had risen 3 ½ feet to full pool just a few weeks before the tournament. The water was muddy with temps near 90 degrees. A steady south wind at 20-25 mph on day #1, almost no wind on day #2, and air temps above the century degree mark, had all the anglers scrambling to put fish in the boat. Despite the tough conditions, some anglers managed to put a few fish in the boat.

Hunter Crossland out of the Angelo Federation Bass Club took first place in the Boater Division with a two-day total of 17.28 lbs. Hunter had a strong performance in his first year fishing the Northwest Region finishing 1st at PK, and 3rd at Brownwood and E.V. Spence. Congratulations Hunter!

Veteran angler Jim Brown out of San Angelo finished in second place with a weight of 9.79 lbs. Jim had Big Bass of the tournament with a nice 6.37 lb largemouth. Brandon Soliz, also with the Angelo Federation, rounded out the top three with a weight of 7.75 lbs.

In the Non-Boater Division, perennial favorite Glenn Hahn took the top spot with a total weight of 14.29 lbs. Anytime Glenn is in the boat, there’s a good chance he’s going to catch some fish. Glenn has already qualified for this year’s BASS Nation National Championship, and we are all pulling for him. Way to go Glenn! Finishing in second place was Derrick “Bo” Ard with a total weight of 12.00 lbs. Third place went to David Zak with 7.02 lbs.

A big “Thank You” to all the anglers that came out and fished the Northwest Region this year! This group of fishermen are not only great anglers, but they are also good friends. I look forward to seeing you all next season! If you are interested in joining the Northwest Region, email region director Floyd Kaerwer at fkaerwer@texasbass.org.

Seymour & Garcia Take the Final NC Region Event on LBJ & Win Team of The Year

Team Results
2024 North Central Region Team Standings

6/22/24 LBJ Lake Results

LBJ presented a picture perfect morning to greet the anglers. We had a full moon, someone called it a Strawberry Moon. Winds were absolutely calm. We were able to launch at exactly 6am, and the teams scattered across the lake in short order.

At the end of the day, it was the team of James Seymour and Casey Garcia who bested the field with the weight of 15.22 pounds, anchored with a 5.25 pound kicker fish.   2nd place and

Big Bass honors went to the team of Pat Grimm and Jack Morse. they weighed in 14.03 pounds and had Big Bass of the day at 5.52 pounds.

3rd place went to Jerry Bell and Donald Bell with 13.45 pounds, they also has a 4 pound kicker that made the difference for them.

Season Recap

It was the team of James Seymour and Casey Garcia that dominated the North Central Region. They Finished 1st 3 times, 2nd in the season opener at Squaw Creek, and somehow only finished in 5th place at Eagle Mountain. That was the only tournament all year they didnt cash a check.

Congratulations on a amazing season.

2nd place went to Randy Fleeman and Rob Paxton, 3rd place went to Jerry Bell and Donald Bell, 4th was Chris Freeman and Ben Hale, and 5th went to Jim Harcrow and David Rosenquist.

I would like to thank all the teams who fished with us this year. We have the largest Team Region, and the best payouts. We grew from 2023 and I hope we will grow even more in 2025. The goal for 2025 is 50 Teams, so tell your friends to come fish !! Invitations to the Team State Championship will be emailed to everyone soon. Brent is working on securing the lake. As soon as we know what lake it is, you will know.

Keep checking the website and your email for the details.

Again, Thanks you all very much for showing up and fishing the trail.

Look forward to next year.
