Bassmasters’ Creed: I promise to create among my fellow anglers, and the public in general, an awareness of my Chapter’s and Society’s contributions to angling, conservation and outdoor recreation. I will encourage and instruct the youth of my community in the art of bass fishing. I pledge myself to full adherence to all conservation codes and to detect and report any polluter of our nation’s waters.

The North West Region of the Texas BASS Nation held its 2nd qualifier of the year on Possum Kingdom March 9th. A passing front brought early morning rain and a strong west wind that blew 20-30 mph most of the morning.
Despite the tough conditions previous Bassmaster Classic qualifier Bryan Schmidt brought in a 5 fish limit weighing 22.40 pounds to take 1st place.
Mike Pruitt was a close 2nd bringing 21.66 pounds to the scales. Mike also landed a beautiful PK lunker weighing 8.43 lbs to take big bass for the tournament.
Cole Slaughter rounded out the top 3 finishing in 3rd place with 19.83 pounds. All of the top three anglers were from the Callahan County Bass Club. Alabama rigs and crankbaits seem to be the hot baits.
The next scheduled events are on O.H. Ivie April 13th & 14th. Remember guys, each day counts as an individual one-day tournament. You can rack up some points by fishing both days and cut down on travel costs. Headquarters will be Elm Creek Village (325-357-4776) and we’ll be using the Kennedy Park ramp.
Call North West Region director Kelley Hudson at 940-550-5638, or email at khudson@texasbass.org, if you have any questions. Hope to see you there!

Lake Belton Water temperature Started at 50.1 degrees and soared to 52.3 degrees that made the bite tough as evidence of the weights brought to the scales. Expected strong winds and rain made for a challenging derby but with all the steep banks and rock formations is was easy to find fish-able water.
Rickey Bishop Led the way with a 1st Place finish 8.18 lbs.said he was catching them on purple swim baits. (sounds like a fish tale to me)
2nd place Thomas Ferro with 7.37 lbs.
3rd place Jose Ramos with 7.17 lbs.
4th George Bryan with 6.69 lbs
5th Chad Petrie with 5.93 lbs.
Big Bass 5.37 lbs went to George Bryan
I will say that Lake Belton should be Awesome for the State Tournament coming up this April 26 – 27, come and join us.
Thanks to all that fished and Cecil Tubbs for doing the weight in
