2/10/24 Paint Creek Ramp @ EV Spence Reservoir: Saturday started with 54 degrees, a little rain and overcast skies but turned into a perfect day on the water. Cleared off by 9 am and sunny the rest of the day. All the anglers saw bait fish milling around on the surface and some large fish turned on their side. These are clear signs a Golden Algae bloom is in the beginning stages.

It was a tough day for everyone but someone always finds the fish. Five of the twelve teams weighed fish.

First place honors went the Team of Chase Lawson and Jody Morris with a five fish limit of 19.22 lbs and a healthy kicker 5.69 lbs that took the big bass pot. They took home $1220 for their efforts. Congratulations Chase and Jody.

The second place team of Chris Cobos and Julian Machuca also had a five fish limit of healthy bass. Their total weight was 17.03 lbs with a 4.42 lb kicker fish. An awesome stringer and caught on a pattern you wouldn’t expect for February.

Thanks to all the Teams for fishing the Northwest Region trail of the Texas BASS Nation Team Division. We look forward to growing with you in the future. Its not too late to qualify for the Team State Championship in September 2024. Fish three qualifying events and you’re in!! Here is the NW Region schedule.

16 Teams kicked off the 2024 Texas Bass Nation South Region Team Trail this Saturday at Coleto Creek Reservoir.  Mother nature cooperated with mostly sunny skies, mild winds and temperatures from 29 degrees at launch to 70 degrees by weigh in.

Team Mark Watson/Dirk Wenzlaff found a pattern and bested the field, bringing five fish to the scales for 19.35 pounds anchored by a solid 5.31 largemouth.  Close back in second, Team Tommy Alexander/Colton Knippling also had a five fish limit, totaling of 17.40 pounds including a tournament big bass winning kicker of 6.34 pounds.  Rounding out the podium, Team Cory Leita/Bruce White brought in a limit weighing 12.44 pounds. A very impressive stringer of five bass was delivered to the weigh-master by the father-son Team Chad and Carl Poulsen. Five healthy fish weighing 30.98 lbs, including the 8.27# big bass of the day, drew the attention of the crowd at weigh-in time. When asked if they “caught-em deep?”, Chad responded “No, we caught them all over the place really”. I accepted his answer but wondered if he wasn’t protecting his tactics to some degree as the Club tournament will be on the same body of water a week from now. I can’t say that I blame him! Congratulations Chad & Carl on a great stringer and an $800 first place check.

Second place went to Jimmy Burgess and Brian Porter, also with a five fish limit that tipped the scales at 18.58 lbs. A respectable stringer in any tourney. Their stringer also included a kicker that went 6.76 lbs. Congratulations Jimmy & Brian on second place and a check for $400.

Third place went to Ryan Robinson and Steve Green out of Tyler Texas. They also delivered a five fish bag that weighed a solid 12.50 lbs. Congratulations Ryan and Steve and thanks for fish the NE Region Team Trail.

The next NE Region Team event will take place on Lake Palestine on February 25th and go out of the Dam Ramp. Get in the game with your favorite fishing buddy and make a run for the Classic!!
